Soloist (Bane)

Simon Lobelson is a graduate of the RCM, Helpmann Award nominee, extensive soloist on 4 continents in over 95 roles, champion of new music and one of the most versatile baritones of his generation, having gained superlative press reviews for his work. He has appeared as soloist with ROH, ENO, London Mozart Players, OA, OQ, Pinchgut, SSO, QSO, TSO, Sydney Philharmonia, ECO, ASKO-Schönberg Ensemble, Israel Camerata, SCO and Sydney, Holland & Lucerne Festivals in roles such as Amfortas, Escamillo, Rigoletto, Alberich, Nick Shadow, Marcello, Ford, Germont, Figaro, Michele and Don Alfonso, under such conductors as Boulez, Reuss, De Leeuw, McCreesh, Halsey, Dutoit and Bonynge. He was adjudicator for the 2024/25 Australian Singing Competition, Sydney Eisteddfod and the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition, and has given master classes in both Australia and China. Simon can be heard on Chandos, Toccata and ABC Classics and is full-time Lecturer in Voice and Opera at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, specializing in the research of contemporary opera, having presented at national and international musicological conferences.
